🚨 COVID-19 Update

United Young is completely built and supported by wife and husband duo, Kathleen & Jonathan. We are a tiny company of two, based in New York City, without any staff, just getting started.

As so many people everywhere, our personal lives and work on United Young have also been impacted by the COVID-19 public health emergency.

While we’re able to keep the app running and can attend to any urgent issues, we’ve fallen behind on support messages and new application approvals. We ask for your patience if you reached out via email or chat, as well as for prayers for the whole United Young community.

In difficult times like these, it is more important than ever to share an uplifting word, a prayer, or testimony with one another. May we remind each other of the eternal hope we have found in Jesus. That’s the mission of this app, and we pray you may find encouragement in connecting fellow believers!

How does this app work?

Every day you get up to 15 profiles in your “Daily Matches” and you can like the answers people write on their profile or tap “No, thanks” if you’re not interested.

If you tap “Like” on someone’s profile, they will get a chance to see your profile in the coming days. If they like your profile as well, we will connect you both and you can chat.

We hope you are encouraged by reading about the work of Jesus in the lives of our community members. We believe Jesus gives us hope, dignity and a new way of treating each other with humility and kindness.

How do I message someone?

In order to message someone, you and they first have to like one of each other’s profile answers. Once that happens, we connect you both and reveal which answer you both liked, and a chat is created where you both can message each other.

How long does it take to connect with someone?

This varies greatly per person. In general, we see most people make a connection within the first two weeks. The more time you invest in writing thoughtful profile answers and selecting clear pictures in which your face is visible, the more likely someone is to like your profile. In addition to that, the best way to increase your likelihood of connecting with someone is to like more profiles, creating more opportunities to connect.

What pictures should I upload?

For a successful profile, make sure to upload six unique pictures in which your face is clearly visible. It’s best to have at least one close up portrait of your face, and several pictures of you with your friends or doing activities you enjoy. This lets people who view your profile learn about who you are, and increases the likelihood of them liking your profile.

We strive to have the app be a warm and welcoming Christ-like community. As such we do not allow pictures with graphics or captions, pictures of firearms, pictures in which your face is not clearly visible for some reason, pictures of someone other than you by themselves, bathroom mirror selfies, or any other kind of inappropriate or explicit pictures or graphics.

Why do I have no daily matches?

We are a brand new app, just starting to get the word out. As such there may not be a lot of people on the app close to you. We’re working hard on that! In the meantime, the best way to increase your daily matches is to be generous with your preference settings, increasing the distance and age range. While you may not find someone local, you may still find inspiring people, who share their love for Jesus. We hope that learning about them is encouraging and uplifting, regardless!

Who made this app?

This app is made by wife and husband duo, Kathleen & Jonathan. It is our passion to help connect the greater Christian community using technology. Unlike apps made by large companies with deep pockets, we support this app all by ourselves. We offer an optional Premium subscription to help cover some of the costs of this app.

Is this app free?

Yes, the app is completely free to download and join. Creating a profile, getting daily matches and chatting with your connections is also free! We do offer a completely optional Premium subscription with extra benefits. This helps us cover some of the costs of supporting this app.

How can I support this app?

If you find the app and its mission valuable, you can subscribe to our Premium plan. This supports our work on the app and our initiative to spread the word. We offer weekly, monthly and quarterly subscriptions. Premium offers extra features, such as: double matches, increased profile exposure, advanced preference filters and chat read receipts.

How do I delete my account?

You can delete your account by going to your Profile tab, then tap on Account, scroll to the bottom where you will find a Delete Account button.

Make sure to cancel your Premium subscription before deleting your account. Go to your Profile tab, then tap on “Manage subscription” and follow the instructions.

If for any reason you had a bad experience or the app did not meet your expectations, please let us (Kathleen or Jonathan) know. We really care, and would like to set it right, as well as improve the app for everyone. Contact us in the app or via email. We’d love to hear from you!

How do I cancel my Premium subscription?

If you have the app installed, you can go to your Profile tab, then tap on “Manage subscription” and follow the instructions.

Alternatively, you can open the App Store on your phone, go to your account, and choose “Manage Subscriptions”. You should see “United Young” and can tap on “Cancel Subscription”.

Our Premium subscription is offered through the App Store. Apple maintains full control over all transactions on the App Store. We don't have access to your Credit Card or your iTunes account. Please contact Apple Support with any questions regarding billing.
